2018 Shell Eco Marathon
Sonoma, California April 18-23, 2018
This year our team brought out Diesel Urban Concept vehicle to the competition. We achieved 165.22 miles per gallon and came in 7th place out of 99 teams from 10 different countries across North and South America. Not bad for 5 MONTHS and over 1,000 CUMULATIVE HOURS of after school work! Check out the links below to see highlights from each day of the competition
California Here we Come!
April 13-18
To transport our vehicle and tools to the competition, our advisers drove out team trailer across the United States to Sonoma California! This trip was 3,500 miles and took over 5 days to complete! All students and remaining advisers flew from Newark Airport to San Fransisco.
Sonoma Day 1
April 19, 2018
The first day of the competition we had to finish completing our vehicle so we could enter it into tech inspection. Students had to work together to problem solve any issue that arose during this process.
Sonoma Day 2
April 20, 2018
Students scrambled to finish the vehicle before tech inspection. We were finally complete and ready for inspection!
Tech Inspection
April 20-21, 2018
An overview of each station during technical inspection. The judges found minor faults in our vehicle and we had to return to the paddock to make the minor adjustments to pass inspection.
Qualifying
April 21, 2018
After passing technical inspection, we were able to send out car out onto the track. On our first run, we experiences a major transmission issue but we were able to fix the problem and get back out on the track
Final Race Day
April 22, 2018
To catch up to the efficiency leaders, we had to go back out onto the track one final time. Unfortunately we ran into some complications resulting in our vehicle being unable to start.

April 23, 2018
We are finally headed home! More complications arrose as we departed from San Fransico to Newburgh
